Collecting a rental car in Zagreb starts before you reach the meeting point. Prepare your arrival time, location, documents and return plan, then check that your booking has been confirmed. This helps avoid misunderstandings about timing and costs.
Efex offers pickup by arrangement at Franjo Tuđman Zagreb Airport or within the city. Explore the vehicles and enquiry process on our Zagreb car rental page.
1. Choose airport or city pickup
If you are flying in, select Franjo Tuđman Zagreb Airport in the form. Provide your flight number and expected arrival time. Allow time to leave the aircraft and collect your luggage before pickup. The exact meeting point is agreed when your booking is confirmed; follow the instructions you receive rather than assuming there is a particular desk to visit.
If you are already in Zagreb, select In Zagreb and agree your preferred address and handover time with Efex. Pickup at that location needs to be confirmed. Your accommodation address, arrival time and contact number help make the arrangements clear.
2. Prepare the details for your enquiry
- Pickup and return dates and times.
- Your pickup location and, separately, your return location.
- Number of passengers, approximate luggage requirements and preferred transmission.
- The driver details requested in the form, a phone number with country code and your email address.
- Your flight number if collecting the car after landing.
- Any extras you need, such as a child seat or an additional driver.
Tell Efex in advance if you intend to cross a border or take the car on a ferry. Check permission, cover and any fees before accepting the quote, rather than waiting until you collect the keys.
3. Separate the rental price, location fees and deposit
The rental price depends on the vehicle and rental period. Pickup within Zagreb city costs €50, while return within the city costs a separate €50. These are different options from airport pickup and return.
If you collect the car in Zagreb and return it in Dubrovnik, the one-way drop-off fee is €170. A city pickup fee, if you choose that option, is added separately. For example, Zagreb city pickup and Dubrovnik return involve €220 in these fees, before the rental price and extras.
Check the security deposit separately from the rental price. Confirm its amount, accepted payment methods and release conditions. See the rental terms and your quote for driver requirements and the documents you need.
4. Wait for confirmation and save the meeting instructions
Submitting the form sends an enquiry; it does not automatically confirm a booking. Before travelling, make sure the vehicle or agreed class, dates, price and pickup point are confirmed. Save Efex’s contact details and the instructions you receive.
If your flight is delayed or your plans change, call +385 98 450 068 with your new estimated arrival time. A revised collection time is arranged subject to availability. Do not assume the pickup time changes automatically.
5. Check the car before setting off
Have a valid driving licence and an identity card or passport ready. Before signing, read the agreement and check that the price, rental period and return location match your confirmed quote.
- Check the bodywork, windows, wheels and interior, and ask for existing damage to be recorded.
- Check the fuel level and agreed fuel return policy.
- Check the agreed equipment and adjust your seat, mirrors and navigation before driving.
- Save the contact details and instructions for any difficulties during the rental.
6. Plan the return when you collect the car
Confirm the handover address and time, allowing enough time for the vehicle check and your onward journey. If you are catching a flight after returning the car, allow for airport procedures too.
For a trip ending in southern Croatia, read our Zagreb to Dubrovnik driving guide. It brings together route planning, costs and vehicle return arrangements. Our Dubrovnik car rental page explains pickup and return at that destination.
